Head of Health & Safety

  • London / Midlands
  • 125,000 £ / Year
  • £110,000 - £125,000 per annum

I’m working with a well-established main contractor who is looking to appoint a Head of Health & Safety to lead their UK operations.

This Head of Health & Safety role is a key position within the business, overseeing safety across multiple live projects and managing a team of Safety Advisors. You’ll be working closely with senior leadership in the UK while also reporting into a Group Safety Director.

This is not a purely office-based Head of Health & Safety position. They’re looking for someone who is hands-on, regularly on site and able to build strong relationships with project teams while driving standards across the business.

Duties:

  • Lead the UK function as Head of Health & Safety across multiple projects
  • Manage and support a team of Safety Advisors
  • Work closely with Project Managers and Directors on live sites
  • Drive a proactive approach to health & safety across the business
  • Carry out site visits, audits and support investigations when required
  • Report into senior leadership in the UK and Group function

Requirements:

  • 10+ years’ experience in construction health & safety
  • Previous experience in a Head of Health & Safety or Senior HSE Manager role
  • Background with a Tier 2 contractor or large subcontractor
  • Experience managing H&S teams
  • Hands-on approach with strong site presence
  • Confident influencing and challenging site teams
  • Strong communication skills and practical mindset

This Head of Health & Safety role would suit someone currently operating at a senior level who wants more ownership and the chance to shape safety across a growing UK business.
